PlayStation Portable owners can continue to purchase games through the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita. Sony confirms this after previous ambiguity about this.

PSP users will no longer be able to use the in-game store for PSP content, but will still be able to purchase PSP games from the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita stores. Sony has clarified that on its UK information page about discontinued PlayStation services. The change was noticed by users from the Resetera forum.

Sony announced at the end of March that its download stores for the PS3, PS Vita and PSP would be closing on July 2, 2021, after which users would no longer be able to purchase digital games or DLC. The company wanted to focus on its newer consoles and bring back support for the older generations.

After criticism of this decision, Sony backed down, but only the stores for the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita remained available, those for the PlayStation Portable will be closed. However, it was unclear how PSP games were sold via the PlayStation Store for the PS3 and Vita. Sony introduced the PSP in 2005.
