Sony shows 4k HDR televisions in different formats

In addition to its new OLED range, Sony has announced several 4K HDR televisions that use LCD panels at CES. The largest formats in this series are 75″ models. In addition, Sony is also coming with HDR televisions with full HD resolution.

In the new 4K HDR XE94 series, Sony introduces a 75″ model with direct backlight. The model runs on Android TV and uses the ‘4K HDR X1 Extreme’ processor, which is also used in the already announced OLED models can be found. This feature shares the series with the XE93 models, which, however, have LED backlight on four sides instead of the direct variant. In that series Sony comes with two models: 55″ and 65″. models must be wall-mountable, according to Sony.

In the next line, the X90 series, Sony comes with 49″, 55″, 65″ and 75″ models that also fall into the 4k HDR category. These use the 4k HDR X1 processor. This series is very similar to the XE85 series, which includes models of 55″, 65″ and 75″. The difference is that the XE90 line features ‘X-tended Dynamic Range Pro’, which should provide improved display of both HDR and regular content by adjusting the backlight to different screen zones.These models are also equipped with Android TV.

The last 4k HDR models are part of the XE80 series, which differs from the models just mentioned due to the lack of the same processor and ‘X-tended Dynamic Range Pro’. In this line there are models of 43″, 49″ and 75″.

The full-HD range from Sony consists of four series in total, in which all models also offer support for HDR. In the WE75 series, Sony comes with 43″ and 49″ models, which have in common with the 4k models that they have Triluminos screens, which are based on quantum dot technology. In addition, Sony will introduce a 32″ device in the WE61 line, in addition to 40″ and 49″ models in the WE66 series.
