Sony seems to be working on a successor for the Xperia XA, a 5 “smartphone with minimal bezels. The type numbers of two new models surfaced and they are in line with the naming of the device from earlier this year.

The two phones have the type numbers G3112 and G3121, reports MobilTelefon.ru. This is based on a listing with the Eurasian Economic Commission. The current Xperia XA has the type number F3111. Sony unveiled the 5″ phone, which is narrower than a 4.7″ iPhone, in February this year.

The type number reveals that it is a device that will appear next year. Sony uses type numbers, with the manufacturer using a new letter every year. The F is for 2016, the E for 2015, and so on. The first of the four digits represents the price range. The 3 stands for a midrange device. The rest of the figures indicate variants for, for example, separate continents and providers.

It is the first time that information has surfaced about Sony’s upcoming lineup of Xperia devices. The manufacturer presented the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact at the beginning of September. The next logical moment for a product presentation is the CES fair in early January in Las Vegas, although Sony has made a big splash at Mobile World Congress in February, which takes place in Barcelona in February.
