Sony is releasing an in-car audio system with support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The XAV-AV100 will cost 499 euros and will be available from this month. Sony announced the system in August.

According to 9to5 Mac, the Sony receiver has a lower price than many competitors. The media receiver has a capacitive 6.4″ touchscreen with a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels and measuring at the front 17.8 by 10 centimeters, or double-din. On the left side of the screen are three physical push buttons for home, forward and backward. In addition, the display features a rotary pushbutton with various functions, such as giving voice commands when held down.

The built-in amplifier has four 55W channels. To ensure that sound does not sound dull when speakers are in doors or behind the dashboard, Sony uses the so-called Dynamic Stage Organiser. This system could adjust the signal so that the speakers appear to be incorporated in the dashboard.

Furthermore, the sound can be adjusted via an equalizer with 10 bands. In total, the XAV-AX100 has three output channels to which additional amplifiers or subwoofers can be connected if desired. A reversing camera can also be connected to it and there is a USB connection on the back. Sony announced the in-car system internationally in August. The receiver can be ordered from Friday in the United States. According to webshops such as Amazon, the release in Europe will take place in a week and a half.
