Sony raises PlayStation Plus price on September 1

Sony will increase the prices of its PlayStation Plus subscription from September 1. Instead of 15 euros per quarter, 20 euros must be paid. The company cites ‘market conditions’ as the reason for the price increase.

Italian website VG247 was one of the first to report the PlayStation Plus price increase based on an email sent by Sony. The company confirmed to Pushsquare that the prices will increase as of September 1. For a quarterly subscription, 20 euros must be paid, while previously a price of 15 euros was used. However, there would be no plans to increase the price of the annual subscription, from currently 50 euros.

Sony does not provide clear reasons for the price increase. The company states that the new price has to do with market conditions, but what exactly is meant by that is unclear. Incidentally, the price increase only seems to apply to European countries.

Sony previously announced that customers who are members of PlayStation Plus will be able to vote for games; whoever gets the most votes will be offered for free the following month.
