Sony PlayStation branch director leaves
Sony has announced that the current CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, which includes the PlayStation, will leave at the end of this year. Andrew House will be succeeded by John Kodera, who is currently vice president of the department.
House will remain in his position until the end of the year to ease the transition, Sony said in the announcement of the switch. The Japanese company thanks the CEO for developing the PlayStation division, where he worked since 2011. He joined Sony in 1990, where he initially worked in the communications department. Through that department, he ended up in marketing and he worked on the release of the first PlayStation. House succeeded Kazuo Hirai, who is currently the CEO of Sony, six years ago.
House was responsible for the PlayStation 4 and services such as Now and Vue. According to Sony, he mainly focused on developing the PSN. A Sony spokesperson told The Wall Street Journal that he will take “a new job in the entertainment industry” without going into details. His successor John Kodera has been with Sony since 1992, where he started in the portable audio division. In relation to the PlayStation, he has been involved with various PSN services, such as video and music services, according to Sony.
In the summer, Sony reported that it had sold more than sixty million units of the PlayStation 4 to that point. There are also said to be 70 million active PlayStation users every month.
