Sony Mobile will announce new smartphone in two weeks

Sony Mobile has said it will announce a new smartphone in two weeks. The Japanese manufacturer has not released a new model in Europe so far this year. It is obvious that it is a successor to last year’s Xperia 1 II.

The digital event is scheduled for April 14 at 9:30 AM, Sony said. There will be a live stream on YouTube. This means that the announcement of the Japanese manufacturer is later than usual. In recent years, Sony has invariably announced its new models in February. This year’s telecom show MWC did not take place in February in Barcelona and that is the occasion that Sony usually uses for announcements.

It is obvious that it is a successor to the Xperia 1 II. That phone with 4k OLED screen came out almost a year ago. There may also be a successor to the cheaper Xperia 10 II, which also appeared on the market last spring. Renders of the ‘Xperia 10 III’ appeared online in January.

Sony hasn’t released any new models in Europe yet, but it has released the Xperia Pro in the US, a variant of the Xperia 1 II with HDMI input to be connected to a camera and used as a camera monitor.
