Sony lowers price of PSVR Starter Pack by 100 euros
Sony has announced a price reduction for its Starter Pack for the PlayStation VR. The price of the package, which consists of a headset, a camera and the game VR Worlds, drops by 100 euros to 299 euros.
Sony writes in a blog post that the reduction will take effect on Thursday, but the Pricewatch shows that the Starter Pack is now available at some stores for the reduced price of 299 euros. This makes the bundle currently cheaper than a separate headset. Sony introduced the PSVR in 2016 for a price of 399 euros.
The price reduction follows reductions by other manufacturers. For example, HTC made its Vive headset earlier this month also 100 euros cheaper, so that a package including headset and two controllers came to 599 euros. That announcement coincided with the announcement of the price of the Vive Pro, which will be released in April for 879 euros excluding controllers.
Facebook announced the Oculus Go last year for $199 and then made its Rift headset with Touch controllers cheaper, priced at $449.
