Sony has posted 22 vacancies online related to cloud gaming. One of those job postings specifically asks for “the ability to develop and deliver a vision for cloud gaming streaming on PlayStation.”

There are a total of 22 vacancies online that are related to cloud gaming. This includes five vacancies for platform developers, three for software developers, two for technical project managers and at least one for a technical writer. Sony is also looking for four reliability engineers including a manager, a DevOps programmer, a junior network administrator and a senior business intelligence analyst. In addition, vacancies for a security architect and a network capacity planner are open.

The job descriptions of some vacancies are clearly focused on work related to cloud gaming. For example, the senior business intelligence analyst will work on ‘analytics for the cloud gaming experience’ and the security architect will focus on ‘future technology and cloud gaming’. The locations of the vacancies are often in Aliso Viejo in California. In that place is Gaikai, a cloud gaming company that Sony bought ten years ago.

Sony, like many other tech companies, recently laid off a significant portion of its staff, but at the same time it also seems to be focusing on the development of cloud gaming in particular. The job postings do not describe exactly what project the new employees would work on. There have been rumors lately that Sony wants to do more with cloud gaming. For example, a week ago there was a rumor going around that Sony would be working on a handheld console that would work as a cloud gaming device that streams games from the PlayStation 5.
