Sony has sold 915,000 copies of the PlayStation VR in four months and will almost certainly reach its internal target of 1 million sold glasses in six months. According to the manufacturer, there are shortages.

Those shortages should be a thing of the past by April, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Andrew House told the New York Times. Especially in Japan there would not be enough glasses to meet the demand. With the number of 915,000 units sold, the PlayStation VR is more popular than Sony itself thought, according to House statements.

Sales should get a new boost in the fall, when Sony starts delivery in South America. The PlayStation VR seems to sell a lot more often than its biggest competitors, the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive, which are also considerably more expensive. According to research company SuperData Research, 243,000 units of the Oculus Rift and 420,000 units of the HTC Vive have been sold.
