Sony has sold 25 million PlayStation 5s to date. In the second quarter of the current fiscal year, the manufacturer shipped 3.3 million new consoles. The number of consoles sold is barely growing, but the company continues to hope to reach its target.

Sony enrolls the turnover figures for the second quarter of its financial year that it sold 3.3 million PS5s in the three months to the end of September. That is the same number as in the same period a year ago. With that number, Sony is just over 25 million PlayStations of the new generation sold.

In the first half of its fiscal year, which began in April 2022, Sony sold 5.7 million consoles. The company plans to sell 18 million consoles throughout the fiscal year. Now that the first half of that fiscal year is over, Sony has sold only a third of that target. However, the holidays will be able to make a significant contribution, especially if major exclusives such as God of War: Ragnarok come out later this year. Sony does issue a profit warning for the coming quarter because of a suspected decline in first-party game sales. Last year, Sony sold two million consoles between October and January. Sony doesn’t write much about the console’s production, except that 6.5 million units of the PS5 were produced in the entire second quarter.

The number of PlayStation Plus subscribers decreased slightly in the past year, from 47.2 million to 45.4 million. Its turnover rose again from 106 to 116 billion yen or 794 million euros.
