Sony has agreement for three more Call of Duty games on PlayStation
Activision Blizzard is bringing at least three more Call of Duty games to Sony’s PlayStation consoles, according to Bloomberg sources. The two companies agreed to this in an agreement, which was concluded before Activision Blizzard was acquired by Microsoft.
According to the four sources that Bloomberg has spoken, it concerns the Call of Duty game that should be released this year, and its successor that will probably be released next year. The third game would be a new version of Call of Duty Warzone. Should that new Warzone game appear this or next year, the deal could only last until next year.
Last week, Microsoft’s Gaming CEO Phil Spencer said he “wish” to keep Call of Duty available on PlayStation consoles. However, no concrete commitment that those games would continue to be available for Sony’s consoles was given. Spencer did say that he would honor existing agreements. The companies declined to comment to Bloomberg about the Call of Duty agreement.
Microsoft announced last Tuesday that it plans to buy Activision Blizzard. After the acquisition of Bethesda, Microsoft appeared to want to release new games such as Starfield only to Xbox consoles and PCs.
