Sony continues to block porting Fortnite accounts to Xbox or Switch

Sony continues to make it impossible to transfer a Fortnite account to a Microsoft Xbox One or Nintendo Switch. As a result, players who have once logged in to a PS4 will not be able to transfer their account and associated purchases to another console.

Transferring an account to iOS, Android or a Windows PC is possible, but Sony is blocking the transfer of Fortnite accounts to the Xbox or Switch and will continue to do so, the BBC writes. Crossplay between other consoles and a PS4 is also not possible, while PS4 players can crossplay with users of a PC, Android and iOS.

Sony is giving no reason for continuing to block porting accounts and is sticking to a general statement about how many people are using the PS4. “We’re always open to hearing what the PlayStation community is interested in to improve the gaming experience.” That feedback has so far been that many people have asked for the Fortnite accounts to stop being “hostage” on the PS4.

The topic is on the agenda, as Fortnite for the Nintendo Switch came out this week. Epic Games also announced this week that there are 125 million players. The game came out a year ago.
