Sony comes with external SSDs with USB-C connection
Sony comes with three external SSDs in the new SL-E series. These are models with a storage capacity of 240GB, 480GB and 960GB. The SSDs have a USB-C connection and come with a USB-C and USB-A cable.
Sony does not mention exact dimensions, but the SL-E SSDs would be smaller than a credit card, although that will not apply to the thickness. Sony mentions a maximum read speed of 540MB/s and a maximum write speed of 520MB/s. The manufacturer does not provide details per model, nor is it known which memory chips Sony puts in the SSDs.
Sony touts the external SSDs as extra storage space for Android phones or Sony A cameras. The SSDs themselves have a USB-C connection and the manufacturer supplies two cables, so that the SSD can be connected to a USB-C port or a regular USB-A connection. The housing is equipped with an LED.
The SL-E SSDs should be on the market in May. The 240GB model costs 169 euros, the 480GB variant has a suggested retail price of 289 euros and the 960GB version has to be paid 499 euros. A few years ago, Sony already released SSDs in the SL-BG series.
