Sony claims that PS5 will be more available from now on
Sony claims that the PlayStation 5 console will be much more available from now on. Since its release more than two years ago, the console has been poorly available, but because Sony can now make more, shortages should be resolved quickly.
Sony CEO Jim Ryan said during the Sony presentation at the CES electronics fair that the production of PS5s has increased since the end of last year. “Anyone who wants a PS5 should now have an easier time finding one at retailers around the world.” It is the first time since the console’s release in November 2020 that Sony has said something similar, although Sony was also slightly optimistic in the middle of last year. So far, the console has been poorly available since its release.
In the meantime, Sony has already shipped as many as 30 million units of the console, Ryan said. That is five million more than with the previous quarterly figures in the autumn. According to Ryan, December was also the month with the most PS5 sales to date.
