Sony has released Android 6.0.1 updates for the Xperia Z2, Z3 and Z3 compact. Users of these devices will receive a notification sometime in the near future that the update is available, but manual download and update is also an option.
The news comes to light via Xperiablog.net. There is the comment that it concerns the Xperia Z2 with model number D6503, the Z3 with D6603 and the Z3 Compact with D5803. It seems that these are the models that are sold in the Benelux. The Sony Xperia Z2 is now around two years old.
Recently, Sony has given users the opportunity to install and test beta versions of Android 6.0 for the Xperia devices. The version of Android Marshmallow that is now being rolled out is the same as the latest version in the beta program, according to Xperiablog.net. The updates bring the security patch level of the OS to February 1, 2016 and contain, in addition to the standard features of Android Marshmallow, the Camera 2.0.0 interface known from the Xperia Z5. That device as well as the Z5 Compact and Z3+ have already received their Marshmallow update.
