Sony believes Microsoft will continue to honor existing agreements after Activision purchase

Sony doesn’t think Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard will make games disappear from the PlayStation. The company expects Microsoft to stick to previously made agreements and not make Activision games exclusive.

“We expect Microsoft to continue to meet its contractual obligations and ensure that Activision games remain available on a multi-platform basis,” the company said in a statement, according to Bloomberg. Sony does not elaborate on it further and does not say which contracts it concerns exactly. The company seems to be hinting that at least existing games, but also future games such as Call of Duty, will not only be released for the Xbox or PC but also for the PlayStation 5.

It’s still not entirely clear what exactly Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard means for the availability of old and new games. Microsoft wants to acquire the publisher for $ 68.7 billion, but the company has few concrete answers about availability. “To players who play Activision Blizzard games on Sony’s platform, I want to say that our intention is not to take communities away from other platforms and we remain committed to that,” said Xbox CEO Phil Spencer. Sony has so far not responded at all to the acquisition.
