Sony Computer Entertainment has officially announced action-adventure game The Last of Us for PlayStation 4. The game will be titled The Last of Us Remastered and will include the game, the single player expansion and two multiplayer expansions.

The Last of Us Remastered is being edited by development studio Naughty Dog to take advantage of the additional capabilities offered by the PlayStation 4 console. This means, among other things, that the game will be fully playable in 1080p. The development studio is also working on the models of the characters and the shadow and light effects and the textures will receive an upgrade, Sony announced on Wednesday. The Last of Us Remastered will be released in the summer, but an exact release date is not yet available.

In addition to the technical improvements, Naughty Dog also adds commentary from creative director and writer Neil Druckman, game director Bruce Straley, and voice actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson. Gamers can optionally listen to their commentary on the various in-game cinematics that pass by in The Last of Us Remastered.

The PS4 version of the popular PS3 game will not only feature the content of the original game, but also the content of the Left Behind DLC pack released in February. The DLC packs aimed at the multiplayer mode, namely Abandoned Territories and Reclaimed Territories, are also included in the PS4 version.

With the announcement, Sony puts an end to a period of rumors surrounding the PS4 version of The Last of Us. Nevertheless, since the end of March, when an employee of the Turkish department of Sony PlayStation spoke up, there seemed to be little ambiguity about the arrival of the game to Sony’s latest game console.
