Sony announces new Bravia line of UHDTVs with HDR
Sony has announced its new 2016 line of Bravia TVs. The manufacturer releases four UHD models in different image formats, all four of which support the display of HDR images. In addition, two HDTVs appear in several smaller image sizes.
The ‘Bravia 4K HDR’ models that Sony is launching this year all offer the resolution of 3840×2160 pixels and HDR support. The televisions are equipped with Sony’s X1 image processor and the Android TV operating system.
The top model of Sony’s new line is the XD94 with a screen diagonal of 75 inches. The TV has a full array LED backlight with local dimming. The model that is one step below the X94D in the product range, the X93D, comes in a 65″ and 55″ variant. The X93D is equipped with a thin edge-lit LED backlight with local dimming and is 11.8 mm thick at the thinnest point.
The SD85 and XD85 are also UHDTVs with HDR support, but are not of a ‘floating’ design, like the X94D and X93D, but of a regular design. The SD85 will be available in 65″ and 55″ formats, and the X85D will also be available with 75″ and 85″ screen diagonals.
Sony also releases the WD75 and WD6. These are televisions with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, which have to do without Android TV and which come in sizes from 32″ to 49″.
