Sonos has begun testing Google Assistant integration
Sonos has begun testing the integration of its products with Google Assistant. The manufacturer’s speakers have been supporting Amazon’s digital assistant Alexa for some time. The Assistant feature should go live this year.
In the coming weeks, thousands of users should run the test with the integration, Sonos told Variety. Sonos still plans to release the feature this year, as the company said in November. The exact schedule will depend on the results of the tests, a spokesperson said. He also declined to give an estimate of when the feature will be live for everyone.
The company did add Amazon Alexa integration to its products last year. Users can also control speakers via ifttt. Sonos is also talking to Apple about Siri integration, but whether that will come of it is unknown. Meanwhile, other products that work with Alexa and Google Assistant will soon appear. Samsung TVs, among others, will also receive the digital assistants from Google and Amazon in addition to their own Bixby.
