Sonos announces the combination with the ifttt platform. Users can link events from ifttt via smarthome devices to then that commands from Sonos control. For example, the music can be turned down automatically when a smart doorbell rings.

Sonos currently has fifteen actions on its ifttt services page. For example, users can pause music when they have a conversation with their Android device, playlists can be linked with Philips Hue lighting and the Google Assistant and Alexa can play favorites if the user asks for it.

The Sonos development team promises to add many more actions. The integration follows the opening of its api as part of the Sonos Sound Platform last week. This allows developers to build control of Sonos devices into their software. Support for notifications will follow in October, with the volume of the Sonos device being reduced for a while upon receipt.
