Sonos delays product introduction, presumably of Sub Mini subwoofer
Sonos has said it has delayed the release of an upcoming product by a few months. It is probably the Sub Mini subwoofer. Sonos releases a few products per year and would have liked to present the product this summer.
Sonos CFO Britanny Begley says in the discussion of the quarterly figures that the company has decided to postpone the product to give it a better chance of a successful release. “In light of a slowing economy (…) and continued supply constraints, we expect a challenging quarter ahead, so we decided to postpone a product release to the next quarter. This would provide better release timing.”
When it comes to the Sub Mini, it would therefore not be released this month or next, but in October, November or December. This coincides with the lucrative holidays, which means that Sonos has an attractive new product on the shelves. Sonos is lowering its expectations for this quarter.
Information about the Sub Mini came out in June via an FCC inspection. Sonos usually has products approved one to two months before release. A render of the subwoofer has already been released. At the moment, Sonos only sells the Sub Gen 3 as a subwoofer. It is now in the Pricewatch for € 749. The Sub Mini is expected to cost less.
