Sonos begins partnership with Audi for car speakers
Audi is going to install Sonos speakers in its cars. The first model to receive Sonos speakers is the Audi Q4 e-tron. It is the first time that Sonos has entered into a partnership with a car manufacturer.
That Audi uses speakers from Sonos in the Q4 e-tron, became apparent on Tuesday when the car brand released photos of the interior of the car. The Sonos brand can be seen on a speaker. Audi later confirmed in a conversation with investors that a partnership with Sonos has been established, but details about that have not yet been disclosed. The companies say they will announce more soon. Perhaps that will happen with the full unveiling of the Audi Q4 e-tron in April.
Sonos speakers were not yet found in cars. Other audio brands, such as Bose, Bowers & Wilkins and Bang & Olufsen, have been working with car manufacturers for some time. Audi also worked with such manufacturers, for example Bose speakers were previously available in cars of the German brand and more recently copies of Bang & Olufsen.
