Some Xbox 360 games get visual enhancements for Xbox One X
Microsoft has expanded the Xbox One X Enhanced program to include some Xbox 360 games. This program optimizes games to use the Xbox One X hardware.
It concerns the games Halo 3, Assassin’s Creed, Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Not only is the resolution of the games significantly increased, according to IGN up to nine times as many pixels, but the color depth in some of the games also goes from 8 to 10 bit. It is still unclear whether more Xbox 360 games will be optimized for the Xbox One X.
These games are free to update with the improvements for the Xbox One X, provided users own the games. HDR support has not been added. The updates will be available from November 7; on this day the Xbox One X console will be available.
The Xbox One X Enhanced program means that the developer has made additional improvements such as higher resolution, better frame rates or improved textures. The games within this program do not automatically have a 4k resolution or HDR support; for this there are again two separate logos, in addition to the Enhanced logo. The list of games that have been improved for the Xbox One X now has more than 130 games. This mainly concerns titles for the Xbox One.
