Some Canon PowerShot models suffer from factory defect – update

Spread the love

Some Canon PowerShot cameras suffer from a manufacturing defect that causes the battery to make poor contact with the housing. As a result, affected users will see a notification telling them to charge the battery. Their devices may also fail.

However, Canon says it’s a rare issue and affects only a limited number of cameras. It concerns models in three series, namely ELPH 135, ELPH 150 IS, ELPH 340 HS, SX280 HS, S120 and ELPH 140 IS.

The manufacturer has put a statement online that also states how customers can check exactly which model they have. Users experiencing issues can contact Canon through 2019. The company will then replace or reimburse the affected device. A year ago, the manufacturer faced similar problems.

Update, Monday, 19-01, 13.30: Linked to previous issues and title changed to emphasize PowerShots.
