Xvid is a well-known open source video codec that can store video images in an acceptable file size without sacrificing too much image quality. The developers recently released version 1.2.0 which includes support for the x64 editions of Windows. In addition, there are several improvements such as sse3 and sse4 optimizations and it becomes possible to distribute the encoding of video over multiple threads. This release is Xvid 1.2.0 stable release. It is API compatible with the previous 1.1.3 stable release.
