Download Xming 6.9.0.21
The X Window System, simply called X or X11, is a platform for using graphical operation under different operating systems. The platform consists of a server, the X Window server, that manages the screen and so-called clients that connect to the X server and tell it what to show on the screen. Well-known X Window servers are X.Org and XFree86, both work on Unix-like systems. Xming is an X Window server for Windows XP/2003/Vista systems and can be used for a variety of purposes such as graphically accessing a Unix server from your Windows desktop. The developers have released version 6.9.0.21 and provided the following list of changes:
Version 6.9.0.21:
- Play catch-up with the X.Org repositories and the XKeyboardConfig project.
- Move the location of the invalid usage log to a temporary directory from the install directory and provide a clearer message directing the user to it. The name for the usage log is now Xming.n.log (was Xming.log) where n is the display-number and will therefore default to Xming.0.log. This is then consistent with the normal Xming log.
- Bring the Xming manual up to date. Sort and correct the ‘-help’/usage text.
- Popup the log file for invalid usage, and options ‘-help’ and ‘-version’ in a ‘notepad’ window. This may prevent many silent deadly exits (especially from XLaunch) and will certainly help novices.
- Clean up some of the log messages that are normally hidden (ie output before the file log has opened) but are logged on server reset.
- Use Inno Setup 5.1.8 which has improvements for Vista.
