Download Xampp 1.8.0

Setting up a web server, especially if MySQL, PHP and Perl must also be used in addition to Apache, is quite a bit of work. At Apache Friends they thought so too and that’s why they developed Xampp. This combines the installations of previously mentioned programs, plus ftp and email servers and programs like phpMyAdmin, OpenSSL, Webalizer and SQLite. Xampp is available for Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and Solaris, but the latter two are less actively maintained and a few versions behind. A few days ago, version 1.8.0 of Xampp was released and the release notes look like this:

New XAMPP 1.8.0 for Linux and Windows

After several months of hard work we are proud to announce a new release of XAMPP for Windows and Linux.

The most important updates are: Apache 2.4.2, MySQL 5.5.25a, ​​PHP 5.4.4, and phpMyAdmin 3.5.1.

After this release we will focus again on the Mac OS X version of XAMPP. Sorry, for the delay, we’re simply short on man power.
