Download WinRAR 5.30
RAR Labs has released the final release of version 5.30 of its archiving programs RAR and WinRAR. The popular compression tool is available for a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and OS X. It handles most common formats – including rar, zip, cab, arj, lzh, tar, gz, ace, uue, bz2, jar, iso , 7z and z – has a skinnable interface, and support for Zip64 and multivolume cab files. Below are the improvements made in version 5.30:
New in WinRAR 5.30
- Recent reports published in September and October 2015 about the critical vulnerability in WinRAR self-extracting archives is incorrect.
Unfortunately, the mass media has failed to notice that what has been described as a vulnerability in WinRAR is in fact a vulnerability in Windows OLE that was released in November 2014. patched.
Even without a patch, this vulnerability in Windows OLE does not introduce new risk factors for SFX archives created with WinRAR.
read here For more information . A patch for WinRAR is not necessary. - Added extracting multipart ZIP archives created with 7-Zip. Such archives have file extensions like .zip.001, .zip.002, etc. You need to open the .zip.001 file in WinRAR environment to browse or extract such archives. All component files must be stored in the same folder before the archive can be extracted.
- Extract split files to multiple parts with extensions like .001, .002, etc. added. You can open the .001 file as a usual archive and then extract its contents. WinRAR combines all parts and saves them to the extracted file. All component files must be stored in the same folder before the archive can be extracted.
The item “001” is included in the “Link WinRAR with” list in the Settings dialog, Integration tab. - The WinRAR file list allows you to use the Back and Forward buttons or the keyboard shortcuts Alt+Left Arrow and Alt+Right Arrow to browse recently visited folders.
- Folder wildcards are possible in RAR command line in names of files to be packed. For example:
rar a backup c:reservkeopie2015**
Recursion is automatically enabled for such map wildcards, even if the -r switch is not specified. - The “Extract” button in an SFX archive changes to “Pause” once unpacking has started, making it possible to pause the unpacking of an SFX archive and continue at a later time.
- The “Skip Encrypted” option in the “Find Files” dialog box to silently skip encrypted archives when performing the search.
- The archive test command works for .tar.gz, .tar.bz2, and .tar.xz archives. Since the TAR format does not provide file data checksums, WinRAR only checks the validity of the GZIP, BZIP2, or XZ container.
- Adding a new text to the WinRAR diagnostic messages window could be slow and affect the performance of the command in the case of thousands of errors. Now it works quickly, regardless of the number of errors.
- The new ‘R’ object for the -sc switch specifies the encoding of RAR console messages sent to redirected files and pipes. For example:
rar lb -scur data > list.txt
This command will produce a Unicode encoded file ‘list.txt’ containing the names of the compressed files. - The sleep time parameter in the -ri . switch [:] has been revised to have less impact on RAR performance and specifically on commands related to recovery records. Higher sleep time values are needed to reduce the system load to an equivalent level as in previous versions.
- The RAR console commands “l” and “v” display the file time in YYYY-MM-DD format.
- When extracting RAR and ZIP archives created in Unix, WinRAR will convert the parsed Unicode characters into precompound characters. Such conversion is required for certain Unix and OS X archives to properly extract packaged items with non-English names in Windows. This works for Windows versions starting with Windows Vista.
- The modification time is set for all created folders when extracting .7z archives. Previous versions only did this for non-empty folders.
- WinRAR prevents a computer from going to sleep by using an idle timeout until the current operation, such as packing, unpacking or other archive operation, is finished.
- The total progress bar is displayed when extracting .arj, .lzh, and .cab archives (multivolume archives excluded).
- The progress bar is displayed when deleting files after zipping and when removing the “Archive” attribute from zipped files.
- The “Test” command also verifies the contents of alternative NTFS data streams in RAR 3.x through 5.x archives. Previously, their content was checked only on run.
Fixed errors:
- The RAR console crashed instead of asking for overwrite confirmation when adding files to already existing archives;
- The RAR console command “lt” did not display seconds in the file time;
- WinRAR would not unpack .xxe files if they do not contain the text “section N of xxencode” in the main section;
- RAR could not recover contents of alternative NTFS data streams saved with -os switch if split between different volumes.
