Download Wine 8.0 RC1

The first release candidate of Wine version 8.0 has been released. Wine is an open source implementation of the Windows API and allows you to run DOS and Windows programs on Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris and macOS. A large group of developers contribute to Wine and it has been decided to release a new so-called development version every two weeks instead of waiting until a number of new features are ready. A stable edition is published a few times a year. The database with applications that work under Wine, with or without the help of minor adjustments, contains at the time of writing 28,754 titles, which is 21 more than last week. The Wine development release 8.0-rc1 is now available

This is the first release candidate for the upcoming Wine 8.0. It marks the beginning of the annual code freeze period. Please give this release a good testing and report any issue that you find, to help us make the final 8.0 as good as possible.

• Bundled vkd3d upgraded to version 1.6.
• Vulkan and OpenGL thunking optimizations.
• More support for print processors.
• Improved joystick control panel.
• Long types printf format conversion finished.
