Download Wine 1.4 final
After twenty months of development, a stable edition of Wine has finally appeared. Wine is an open source implementation of the Windows API. This makes it possible to run DOS and Windows programs on Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris, among others. A large group of developers contribute to Wine and it has been decided to release a new so-called development version every two weeks, instead of waiting for a number of new functions to be ready. More than 16,000 changes have been made in version 1.4. Some highlights include support for Microsoft Office 2010, a new way of displaying dibs and a new audio stack based on the Vista model.
