The announcement has just been made on the Wine site appeared from beta version 0.9.15. The update is via this page from various mirror servers and comes with a small number of improvements, which are listed at the bottom of these postings. Using Wine, it is possible to run DOS and Windows programs on POSIX-based operating systems, including Linux and FreeBSD. Wine can run DOS and Windows applications by first loading them into a program loader and then comparing the Windows API calls to its Unix and X11 counterparts through its own libraries. The Wine 0.9.15 beta release notes look like this:

A new beta version of Wine is out, 0.9.15. You might notice the following changes in it:

  • More MS/RPC improvements.
  • Core Audio driver for Mac OS X.
  • More complete DNSAPI dll.
  • Improvements to Web browser support.

Binary packages are in the process of being built and it may take a few days for them to appear, but the source is available now. You can find out more about this release in the announcement. Check out our download page for packages for your favorite distribution. Fedora packages can be installed from the Fedora Extras repository by running yum install wine from Fedora Extras.
