Anonymous: 34929 sent us an enthusiastic story about the Windows Media Player in its ninth version. This version is not officially out yet but has been leaked a few times. Fileconnect has collected a few mirrors. A changelog is not available but Willem L. Middelkoop wrote the following:

You can now adjust the speed of songs and rate your MP3 so that the Media Player you like plays songs more often. I also looked up from the album info. You put a CD in your pjoeter, (I had a Dire Straits CD) and then you get a whole story (if you want it) about Dire Straits. The cover of the CD is shown, lyrics, biography etc etc etc. Really worth it! This sounds like a promo talk, but seriously, I was impressed. This Mediaplayer has already crashed once or twice, something the previous one never did for me. You should take a look.[break]Anyone interested should be here.
