Download VLC Media Player 2.0.1
VideoLAN has released an update for version 2.0 of VLC Media Player. This open source and cross platform media player can play various audio, video and streaming formats without the need to install the appropriate codec. Downloads are available for Windows and Mac OS X, while the source code should also make the program usable for operating systems such as Linux, BSD and Solaris. A version for Android is still in development.
Version 2.0, codenamed ‘Twoflower’, is a lot faster on systems equipped with a multicore processor, among other things. Furthermore, it supports more media formats, subtitles are displayed in better quality and there is experimental support for Blu-ray discs. In version 2.0.1, the following changes and improvements have also been made:
