Download VLC Media Player 0.8.6d

VideoLAN has released a new version of VLC Media Player. Version 0.8.6d has not yet been officially announced on the front page of VideoLAN, but the downloads are already on the ftp server to find. VLC Media Player is an open source cross platform media player that can play various audio, video and streaming formats without having to preinstall the appropriate codec. Among other things, this release fixes a imperfection in the Active X plugin, which affected versions 0.8.6 through 0.8.6c. The full changelog of this release shows the following changes:

• Mozilla plugin: supports a reasonable amount of MIME types on Windows
• Linux: Fixed S/PDIF passthrough with ALSA
• Automatic recovery on unexpected stream discontinuity (clock gap) occurrences in input
• Use field order (top/bottom) for correct bob/linear deinterlacing
• Fix invalid free in bookmarks loading code

• You now need to append –m3u-extvlcopt to your command line to enable EXTVLCOPT options parsing in m3u playlists.
