The folks at VideoLAN have made available in the form of test2a a new build of the test2 version of VLC Media Player 0.8.6, which in turn was released last week. VLC Media Player is an open source media player that can be used on a wide variety of operating systems. The player is able to play a large number of media formats without additional codecs, including MPEG1, MPEG2, VCD and various streaming protocols. The test releases test the new features of the 0.8.6 branch, including native support for WMV3 and VC-1, improved H.264 support, and improvements to the Mozilla and ActiveX plugins.
