VLC Media Player is an open source media player that can be used on a wide variety of operating systems. The player is able to play a large number of media formats without additional codecs, including MPEG1, MPEG2, VCD and various streaming protocols. The developers of VideoLAN released the second test version of the 0.8.6 branch on the download server yesterday put. Like test1, test2 tests the new features of the 0.8.6 branch, including native support for WMV3 and VC-1, improved H.264 support, and improvements to the Mozilla and ActiveX plugins.
