In recent years, virtualization has been increasingly used in business. Well-known names include Xen and VMware. The latter has conquered a solid position in the market with its VMware Infrastructure 3 setup. Good documentation is very important for setting up and managing such an environment. Veeam Software therefore develops the Veeam Reporter program, which can automatically create an overview of a VMware Infrastructure 3 environment in a Microsoft Visio diagram, Excel workbook, Word document or an Adobe PDF. The developers released version 2.5 a few days ago with the following changes:

New features:

• Storage Capacity Report (requires Excel 2007)
• Container-based collection
• Multipathing report

Other improvements:

• RDM VMs support
• Disk size in numeric format added
• Vmdk file name in Word/PDF/Excel reports added
• Colored connectors implemented
• VM-to-LUN relationships added
• Additional property of VMs – HasSnapshots
• Added “Don’t show Virtual Machines” option in Visio
• Visio Configuration report reworked
• Paper size selection added
