Few days ago, the people of Ubuntu released the first beta version of Ubuntu Linux 7.10 prepared. The 7.10 series is the successor to version 7.04 and has been given the code name ‘Gutsy Gibbon’. The new beta is available from this page from various mirror servers and BitTorrent for x86, AMD64 and Sparc systems.

Ubuntu Linux 7.10 comes with, among other things, Gnome 2.20 and is also equipped with a large number of new features. For example, it is possible to search for files and programs from the desktop via the Deskbar Applet, it is no longer necessary to use the terminal to change video and screen properties and printers are installed and configured automatically. It is also possible to read and write files to hard drives formatted with the ntfs file system.
