Earlier this week the final release of Trillian Astra version 5.3 was released and two updates have already been released. This instant messaging program allows chatting with users of a variety of instant messaging and social networks, including Windows Live, ICQ, Skype (text only), Twitter, and Facebook. Trillian Astra is available for Windows, OS X, iOS, Android and BlackBerry. There is also a version that runs in a web browser and can therefore be used anywhere.

In version 5.3 we find improvements with regard to group conversations, among other things, and there is now also a plug-in that enables chat during games. Furthermore, the program handles SSL certificates better and various minor adjustments have been made to make the program work better in Windows 8. In addition, it is now possible to company account to create. The two updates address most of the issues that have emerged since the program was declared stable and thus used by a wider range of people.

Trillian for Windows (5.3 Build 13)

We’ve been paying attention to the bug reports received after the launch of 5.3 to a larger audience and have fixed most of the major issues reported so far. Fixes include an XMPP crash, an IRC crash, connectivity issues with certain firewall setups, and a few enhancements to some commonly-requested features like the send button and service icons.
