Last week a new version was released in the stable branch of The Gimp. The name of this photo editing program is an abbreviation for ‘the GNU Image Manipulation Program’. The software is available for various operating systems, including Windows, Freebsd, Linux, Mac OS X and Solaris. The Gimp is considered by many to be the open source counterpart of Adobe Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro, but it does take some getting used to because it opens many screens.
