Download SugarSync 2.0.18

An update for SugarSync version 2.0 has been released. This online storage and synchronization service is comparable to services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, SkyDrive and iCloud. The program can be used to backup or easily access files from different places. A free account gives access to 5GB of storage, with options to expand it. For a small compensation this could be 60, 100 or even 250GB. More information about the possibilities of SugarSync is here can be found and compared with other services here.

Clients exist for various mobile platforms, Windows and OS X, but not yet for Linux. In addition, there is also a Outlook plugin. In version 2.0, it has become easier to store and share folders in the cloud. Furthermore, a search function has been added and the saved files now appear as a drive in Mac Finder or Windows Explorer. Finally, the user interface and web app have also been overhauled and given a new look. This update includes performance improvements, a new introductory video for new users, and various bug fixes.

• Significant performance and convenience enhancements to the SugarSync Drive. Specifically, we’ve added a slider that enables you to control the amount of cache the SugarSync Drive can use – from a minimum of 2 GB (the default amount) to a maximum of 50 GB (if you’re more concerned with performance than with hard drive storage space). In addition, we’ve added a Clear Cache button you can click at any time to reduce the amount of downloaded material stored to zero. get more details here.

• We’ve added new persistent status icons to existing folder icons in the desktop app to show that a folder is synced to this computer or that it is currently syncing to this computer
• New introductory video added for first-time users.
• A range of bug fixes, which improve the stability of the SugarSync Drive; provide a more intuitive path for privately-shared folders that are then synced; and the ability to use special characters in folder tags.

SugarSync 2.0 Web App

• NEW! Support for remote wipe capabilities – available May 1.
  • Enables the admins of SugarSync for Business accounts to delete synced data off the computers of other business account members.
  • Business account members can also remotely wipe data off their own computers.
  • Available only in SugarSync 2.0 (not Old SugarSync), and only for business accounts (not paid individual accounts), and only for computers (not for mobile devices). Support for paid individual accounts and mobile devices is coming.
