Skype today not only released the second beta release of version 4.0 of its voip program for Windows, the stable 3.8 branch has also been updated. With Skype it is possible to communicate with other Skype users by means of text, speech, image, or a combination thereof. It is also possible to send each other files or, for example, to play a game. Connections from computer to computer are free and calls can also be made to landlines and mobile phones for a small fee. The following changes and improvements have been made in this release:

• Added High Quality video support for Logitech Vision Pro
• Command line login

Changes:

• Live tab (Skypecasts) removed
• Klonie Avatars and Emotive Ringjam ringtone left removed
• Firefox plugin updated to version 2.2.0.102
• Internet Explorer plugin updated to version 2.2.0.205

Bug fixed:

• Video devices with non-Latin characters in name did not display correctly
• Video calls occasionally caused Skype to crash
