Skype has released version 5.7 of its voip client for Mac OS X. Where Skype used to only pay attention to the Windows version, the Mac OS X version is getting just as much attention these days. For example, video conferencing with up to ten people is possible and text messages can be sent to contacts who are not online. In version 5.7, among other things, the possibility has been added to adjust the volume in the settings, something that owners of USB headsets in particular would have asked for. Skype 5.7 for Mac

In this release, we have made overall improvements to the product quality and calling experience. Following user feedback, we have enabled Volume Control in the Preferences for users who use USB headsets.

  • Video: Video device selection is not remembered on next launch
    workaround: Set the desired video device manually
  • Call: In Leopard can not press number keys on keyboard to generate touch tones
    workaround: Use buttons in dial pad (CMD + 2)
