The developers of Silc Server have released version 1.1.18. Silc Server is used for secure online conferences. The program uses the siliconprotocol. The design is focused on creating a secure environment from the outset and includes various features of irc and im protocols. Support for multimedia messages is provided and it can also be used for video and audio conferencing. The announcements since the previous entry in the Meuktracker look like this:

Version 1.1.18:

This version adds heartbeat support and fixes some minor bugs.

  • silcd: Added heartbeat support
  • Set SO_KEEPALIVE for all accept()ed sockets.
  • silcd: Fixed SIGUSR1 signal handling
  • More string format fixes in silcd and client libary

Version 1.1.17:

This version fixes some or all of the cases of the empty channel problem, where users join a channel but it appears to be empty. This version also fixes bunch of crashes. Upgrading is strongly recommended.

  • configure: check threads support in OpenBSD.
  • silcd: Fixed IDENTIFY command reply handling for channels
  • silcd: Abort active protocols in DETACH command
  • silcd: Added SKR to debug levels
  • silcd: Save debug message in ring buffer
  • configure.ad: Fixed configure to support new autoconf
  • silcd: fixed Deny hostname comparison

Version 1.1.16:

This version fixes lots of bugs and many security bugs such as crashes. In fact this release fixes as many as 8 major crashes and many other bugs. I’d like to especially thank apar from SILCNet for providing backtraces and detailed debug logs of each of the crashes which enabled us to fix the problems. Upgrading is highly recommended.

  • silcd: increment stat.clients statistics whenever adding new client

  • Fixed operation context NULL in disconnect.
  • Take stream reference correctly in packet error callback
  • Remove possible packet error timeouts in EOS callback
  • Added debug logs for updating stat.clients value
