Download SecureCRT 6.6.3

VanDyke Software released version 6.6.3 of SecureCRT on Tuesday. SecureCRT is, simply put, a extensive version of Putty. Slightly less simple, it is a client for remote control, file transfers and data tunneling using ssh. Ssh is a method of establishing a secure connection between two computers, in which both the data and part of the IP traffic is encrypted. Since version 6.6.0 there is also a version of SecureCRT for Mac OS X. Version 6.7 of SecureCRT is also currently being worked on and beta 3 was released earlier this month. New features will be found in the upcoming version, while the changelog for 6.6.3 only shows bug fixes:

Bug fixes:

• SecureCRT could crash on exit due to the way threads were being cleaned up.
• SecureCRT crashed if a tab was closed while the tab context menu was being displayed.
• In Python, if ReadString was called with a number, SecureCRT crashed; and if it was called with no parameters, an error was reported.
• If SecureFX was installed with SecureCRT and SecureCRT was launched with a command line that specified an SFTP or FTP URL, SecureCRT crashed.
• It was not possible to read or set session printer options from a script.
• Windows: SecureCRT crashed if a Python script was running when SecureCRT exited.
• Windows: If a VBS script that called Crt.Sleep was cancelled, an error was reported.
• Mac: SecureCRT crashed when the Inconsolata font was selected on a system set to a region that uses a comma to indicate a decimal point in numbers.
• Mac: When “Receive ASCII” was used in a Serial session, characters around line endings were sometimes dropped.
• Mac: When a Serial session was connected and the baud rate was changed, the new baud rate was not updated in the status bar.
• Mac: In the “Color Scheme” dialog, clicking the background of the “Attributes” list box caused the “Foreground” and “Background” buttons to become unusable.
