Piriform, the name behind the well-known cleaning tool Crap Cleaner, has released a new beta release of Recuva. Recuva is an alternate spelling for the English word ‘Recover’, which is exactly what the program does; trying to retrieve files that have been deleted from the computer, but also from digital camera memory cards or an MP3 player, for example. The program can handle all versions of Windows, with the exception of Windows NT. The following bug fixes and improvements have been made in this version:

• Memory management improvements.
• Ctrl+A now selects all items in the list view.
• Dynamic handling of removable drives.
• Added warning if you try to recover to the same drive as the source files.
• Tweaked detection of non-NT processor specifications.
• Changes to initial memory allocation algorithm.
• Interface tweaks.
