A new beta release of Rainmeter 2.1 has been released. Rainmeter is a program that allows you to customize the desktop of a Windows PC. For example, it is possible to display all kinds of information as a kind of overlay, such as free space on the hard disk, network activity and whether there is new e-mail. Functional applets can also be used to, for example, make notes or send tweets. The main improvement since the previous entry in the Meuktracker is a new ‘now playing’ plugin with support for the most popular media players. Below is the full list of changes.

• Minor tweaks to NowPlaying plugin
• Fixed an issue with FinishAction on a WebParser measure not working correctly if #CURRENTCONFIG# was not specified.
• Changes to Uptime measure to work better on Vista/Win7 systems.

June 12, 2011

• Added SetPosition and Pause bangs to NowPlaying plugin.
• NowPlayingPlugin:
  • Added interface to receive MSN/Windows Live Messenger ‘Listening to’ notifications sent by various players. (eg Media Player Classic, Zune)
  • Changes to CAD interface to allow proper supports for players other than MusicBee.
  • Fixed crash when using the WinAmp interface in multiple skins.
