Version 4.2.1 of Qubes OS released. Qubes OS is a privacy and security oriented operating system. It uses security by isolation, which means that the different parts of the OS run in separate VMs. Unlike VMware Workstation and Virtualbox, for example, there is no host OS, but the VMs run directly on the available hardware. The virtualization is provided by bare-metal hypervisor Xen and the user environment can be chosen from Fedora, Debian, Whonix and Windows, among others. What's new in Qubes OS 4.2.1?

Qubes 4.2.1 includes numerous updates about the initial 4.2.0 release, in particular:

• All 4.2 dom0 updates to date
• Fedora 39 template
• Linux 6.6.x as the default kernel, significantly reducing the need for kernel-latest on newer systems
