Via the Xrossmediabar on the PlayStation 3 you can, among other things, play content that is upnp-av media server offered. PS3 Media Server is written in Java and can stream audio signals and video images to the PlayStation 3 via upnp-av. The software is able to transcode real-time audio and video to formats that the PS3 can read, among other things, and can also pass a photo feed from, for example, Picasaweb. The developer has released a beta version with 1.20 build 400 as the exact version designation. The corresponding list of changes looks like this:

- Static UUID, multiple server instances appearing on the renderer should be a thing of the past
